Allison Margolis, LICSW she/her
Allison is a licensed independent clinical social worker specializing in evidence-based therapy approaches, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Prolonged Exposure (PE), among many others. Allison believes therapy is just as much about building on strengths as it is about ameliorating problems. She is passionate about partnering with individuals to understand and address the barriers to their ability to thrive. Her approach is characterized by directness and authenticity, along with non-judgment, compassion, and humor.
Allison holds a BS from Cornell University and MSW from Boston College. Her professional training included counseling students at Boston College and providing comprehensive DBT at Massachusetts Mental Health Center. Allison previously held positions in the McLean Hospital Depression and Anxiety Disorders and Psychotic Disorders Divisions, and in the Massachusetts General Hospital Intravenous Ketamine Clinic.
Allison was trained in DBT by Behavioral Tech, in EMDR by the EMDR International Association, in PE by the Emory Trauma and Anxiety Recovery Program, and in Acceptance-Based Therapy for Generalized Anxiety Disorder by MGH. Allison is a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and is a neurodiversity-affirming therapist.
Allison works with adults and adolescents looking for support in healing from trauma, navigating life transitions, managing stress, and regulating emotions. Common concerns include low mood, burnout, anxiety, relationship or professional difficulties, coping with trauma, caregiving difficulties, and coping with illness.
Allison also specializes in working with transgender and gender-diverse individuals.
